A rare piece of American military history — an original U.S. Military Academy at West Point mess hall bouillon cup.

This heavy, vitrified restaurant-ware cup features the early West Point coat-of-arms in deep academy green: the winged eagle above the shield with the helmet of Pallas Athena (Athena's helmet), crossed sword, and the motto scrolls "DUTY - HONOR - COUNTRY" / "WEST POINT MDCCCII USMA"

MDCCCII is 1802, the year the academy was founded by Thomas Jefferson.

These handleless cups — sometimes called a bouillon or custard cup — were made for the cadet mess hall by American restaurant-ware giant Shenango China.

They are incredibly durable, stackable, and meant for daily use at the Academy. Circa 1940s-1960s.

Perfect as a coffee mug, planter for a small succulent, pen holder, or display on open shelving. That white + forest green combo is so good.
