A stunning New Old Stock antique Union Case by S. Peck & Co., never used to hold a photograph.

Circa 1858-1860, New Haven, Connecticut. Molded thermoplastic (sawdust and shellac composite) often called gutta-percha. This is the scarce Hummingbirds and Fuchsia pattern, with two hummingbirds in flight among fuchsia blossoms, framed by a rustic twig arch and ornate scrollwork with geometric knot corners.

The interior retains its original deep plum velvet cushion with bright embossing, untouched red velvet rails, brilliant gilt oval mat, and crisp interior label reading:

GENUINE UNION CASE, IMPROVED. Fine Gilt and Burnished Hinge. S. PECK & CO., MANUFACTURERS.

Perfect for housing a 1/9th plate tintype, ambrotype, or as a beautiful sculptural collectible for your cabinet.
