A deeply loved English bread board with soul.
This late 19th-century sycamore bread board is the kind of piece that only comes from a century of daily use. Hand-carved in England circa 1890 with BREAD in raised Gothic lettering and carved ears of wheat/barley to the rim, it has the warm, honeyed patina and all-over knife scoring that collectors look for.
The face is beautifully worn - a soft map of fine cuts across the center from generations of slicing, with darker sycamore grain showing through. The rim is substantial and slightly dished, just as it was made to contain crumbs. A perfect example of English farmhouse treen, equally beautiful hung on a wall or layered on a kitchen shelf.
