This elegant gilded brass letter/paper clip made in the 19th century by Merry, Phipson & Parker (see impressed stamp on the backplate) The design, of scrolls, leaves and a flower, gave the Victorian lady a decorative means of keeping her writing table in order!
The scrolled design features a flower shape top thumb clip on a matching flat brass base which has a wall mount hole at the top.
The iron spring is in good working order. The surface of the clip is gilded with wear commensurate with age. Amazing unpolished patina.
