A breathtaking 19th Century French bijouterie casket, made for display.

This oval Napoleon III vitrine jewelry box features a thick, beveled glass lid that opens to a tufted silk interior, framed in gilt ormolu with an exquisite patina. The body is wrapped in sculptural bronze vines and large detailed leaves, set on four ornate scrolled feet with shell detailing.

The original champagne silk cushion is perfectly faded and tufted — ideal for rings, heirloom jewels, or as a luminous vanity display piece. The glass is crystal clear to showcase what's inside.

True Palais Royal style. Found in France and ready for its next 100 years.

Details:

Era: Antique, French Napoleon III, circa 1880-1900

Material: Ormolu (gilt brass / bronze), thick beveled glass, silk

Form: Oval footed vitrine casket / jewelry box / dresser box

Ornamentation: Applied bronze bamboo vine with large trailing leaves, beaded trim, scrolled feet with palmette motif

Interior: Original tufted silk pillow and lining in pale champagne / ivory

Closure: Hinged lid with brass clasp

Condition:

Beautiful antique condition with wonderful time-worn character. Brass has a rich, darkened patina with some verdigris on feet consistent with age — we have left it unpolished. Silk shows light age and wear as pictured, with some faint marking. Beveled glass has one chip on the interior. A truly special collector's piece.
