A stunning antique Italian souvenir from the 1900s-1920s.
This rare pocket album is a complete accordion-fold (leporello) of 32 black and white photogravure views of Milan, focusing on the magnificent Duomo di Milano and surrounding monuments. Each view is captioned on the reverse in four languages: Italian, French, English, and German.
The cover is what makes this one special - a heavily embossed and gilt chromolithograph board depicting the Duomo within a laurel wreath, framed by classical urns with yellow roses. Marked "32 VEDUTE / IIa PARTE / RICORDO DI MILANO" in gilt lettering.
Interior features a detailed street plan of Milan / plan of the Cathedral on the endpapers, typical for Scrocchi editions.
A perfect piece for collectors of Italian travel ephemera, Milanese history, vintage photography, or to display on a gallery wall.
Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age, as photographed. Board edges with wear and small loss at top/bottom as shown - that beautiful chippy background is actually your table! Inside accordion is clean and intact with typical age toning. Photos are crisp. All 32 views present.
