A charming and practical piece of English kitchen history.
This antique ceramic pie funnel is marked “The Improved Popular Pie Funnel” and was made by Grimwades, England — a Staffordshire pottery firm known for everyday domestic wares in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Pie funnels were placed in the center of a pie before baking to allow steam to escape, preventing soggy crusts and boil-overs. This one features green transfer lettering and a beautifully aged crazed glaze.
A wonderful addition to a traditional kitchen, baking collection, or styled shelf.
