This charming jewellery casket is made of thick bevelled glass panels set into an ornate gilt-bronze (ormolu) frame, resting on four decorative claw-and-leaf feet. The glass has a faint green tint characteristic of the period and is hand-cut with angled edges that catch the light beautifully. The hinged lid opens to reveal the original padded tufted cushion inside, now gently faded with age. These boxes were often used to display cherished rings, brooches, or keepsakes on a vanity or dresser.
