Cool Vintage Gilchrist Ice Cream Scoop with Wooden Handle, Size #8.
The Gilchrist Company began operating as a hardware store in 1902 in Newark, New Jersey. Gilchrist designed his popular ice cream scoop in 1915 and patented it as the No. 31. The material used in its construction is nickel plated brass of which this ice cream scoop still has 98% of its original nickel plating along with a very nice patina on the working metal parts as well as the wooden handle. The Gilchrist No. 31 ice cream scoop was probably the most used tool ice cream parlours and soda fountains across America.
