Rare 19th Century Metal Biscuit Tin from Marsh & Co. Biscuit Manufacturers, Belfast Ireland. This rare figural tin is in the form of a woman's purse with faux alligator skin pattern, green with gold trim and measures 2"d x 5"h x 5"W.
The handle is marked with the company name.
In the late 19th and early 20th century, 140 Donegall street was part of the Marsh & Co Biscuit Factory. John Marsh, and his brother Joseph, were born in Dorking, Surrey, but relocated to Belfast to earn their living.
John owned a 'Steam Bakery' on York Street, before making the decision to focus on the production of biscuits in 1880.
Some wear on one side. A true collector piece!
