This hard to find German Victorian Porcelain Trinket Box, in the shape of a Ladies Hand dates to the late 1800s. These pieces were given away as prizes at fairs, and are now known as fairings. The fairing trinket dish features a lady’s right hand holding an ornately decorated oval trinket box in her palm. The dish has a removable lid decorated with painted gold scalloped edging and a turquoise coloured lid.
The base of the box is highly decorated too, with a string of pearls draped in swags all around the sides. The box is 4-1/2" inches long, 2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall.
